Londonderry, N.H.-
The Aviation Museum of New Hampshire, 27 Navigator Rd., Londonderry, NH, announces an Aircraft Fly-In Day at the museum
Saturday, August 11, 2018, 10:00AM - 2:00PM.* Pilots from throughout New Hampshire will fly in and display a variety of homebuilt and vintage aviation aircraft at the Aviation Museum of NH, Manchester-Boston Regional Airport.
In addition, the Young Eagles will be here giving free flights to kids ages 8-17! All are welcome to attend this unique family friendly event.
"Homebuilt" aircraft, also known as "Experimental" aircraft, have existed since the Wright Brothers pioneered powered flight with their "1903 Flyer" built in their bicycle shop. According to the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA), homebuilts are the fastest growing segment of new aircraft in the United States, and those attending this event will see just how sophisticated these aircraft have become. In addition to the homebuilts, there will be several vintage aircraft, often older than the pilots flying them but lovingly restored and cared for! The homebuilt aircraft on display will have a chance to win a People's Choice Award and a Kid's Choice Award, plus all aircraft will be eligible for an overall Favorite Airplane Award. All awards will be presented during the event
There will be many aviation activities throughout the
day including demonstrations of aircraft fabric covering, sheet metal riveting, conversations with the aircraft pilots, and tours of the Museum's exhibits. Activities for children will include a kids' aircraft wing rib building project and paper airplane building. Raffle tickets may be purchased for a chance to win a variety of prizes. Coffee, pastries, B's Tacos, hot dogs, Lix ice cream and a variety of other foods will be available for purchase. Join us for this exciting, fun-filled day of aircraft and exhibits at the Aviation Museum of NH, Manchester-Boston Regional Airport!
*Regular Museum admission applies. Members & Young Eagles are free.
